Kothagudem: Revenue officials in Kothagudem have resumed the survey of SCCL lands for regularisation under GO 76 after the process was put on hold in October 2023 following the enforcement of the Assembly election code.
It may be recalled that the previous BRS regime issued GO 76 in August 2019 to regularise SCCL lands occupied by locals after the company handed over the lands to the government. A large number of residential and commercial sites were regularised in two phases, while several hundred applications remained pending owing to technical and other issues.
According to officials, the process of verifying 2,240 applications has been taken up. Verification of around 1,420 applications has been completed, while 820 applications are being verified.
Kothagudem Tahsildar D Pullaiah said six teams were conducting field surveys. Each team consists of a tahsildar, surveyor, girdawar and grama palana officer. A committee headed by the District Collector, with representatives from SCCL and the district registrar’s office, has been formed to monitor the regularisation process.
Land regularisation is being carried out in 23 divisions in Kothagudem town. Six divisions falling under the purview of the 1/70 Act have been excluded. The eligibility of applicants who have documents such as house tax receipts and electricity bills within the town limits as of June 2, 2020, is being considered.
After completing the verification process, the list of applicants eligible for land regularisation, along with rejected applications, will be displayed at the tahsildar’s office, he said. A similar process has also been taken up in Yellandu town to regularise pending applications.
