Mancherial: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president Verabelli Raghunath Rao accused the State government of cheating the students by delaying the sanction of scholarships for three years. The BJP leader, along with activists of the party, staged a dharna and took part in the burning of an effigy of the government, here on Monday. Raghunath alleged that the government failed to provide financial aid to students since the formation of Telangana and thus it duped the student community. He further alleged that it was causing inconvenience to both managements of private educational institutions and students. He condemned the government’s decision to slash maintenance allowance from Rs 5,000 to Rs 3,500.

The BJP district chief demanded the government release the scholarships to the students at the earliest. He cautioned the State government that the party would intensify the stir if it continues to delay the sanction of monetary aid to the pupils. The party’s BC Morcha president Bodduna Mallesh, leaders Motapalukula Tirupati, Peddapalli Purshottam, Arumulla Posham, Balla Ramesh, Dega Nagesh, Patti Venkata Krishna, Mudam Mallesh and Madhavarapu Venkata Ramana.
