Mancherial: BRS leader Nadipelli Vijith Kumar has demanded that the government release water from Kadem Narayana Reddy (KNRP) and Gudem lift irrigation projects to agriculture fields of Mancherial Assembly constituency.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Vijith Kumar said that surplus water from KNRP used to be diverted to canals instead of discharging it into Godavari river helping farmers of Mancherial segment in irrigating crops.

Similarly, water is not lifted from the Godavari river through the Gudem lift irrigation project due to reasons unknown. However, water is not being provided from the projects to farmers.

He said that farmers from the Mancherial Assembly constituency were facing inconvenience due to delay in releasing water from the two projects. He stated that the farmers were raising paddy, cotton, soy and other water-fed crops expecting water from the two projects. He regretted that they would register losses if the water was not provided.

He warned that they would launch a protest along with the farmers if the water was not released within 48 hours. He recalled that the former Mancherial MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao had made efforts to irrigate the crops by pressing officials and used to address challenges of the farmers.
