Relief in sight as rain, thunderstorms set to cool Telangana
After weeks of scorching heat, Telangana is set for gradual relief as the IMD forecasts thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and light to moderate rainfall from June 1. Maximum temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3°C across the State over the next four days

Hyderabad: The dry scorching heatwave that has gripped Telangana for weeks is expected to ease gradually, with India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad on Saturday forecasting a drop in maximum temperature over the coming days.
While the IMD has issued a heatwave warning for Sunday, May 31, for isolated pockets in the districts of Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda, the broader outlook points toward relief.
From June 1, IMD, Hyderabad has issued severe thunderstorms warning accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (40 to 50 kmph) for isolated locations across the State.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana. No large change in maximum temperatures on May 31. Thereafter, gradual fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during subsequent four days,” the IMD, Hyderabad said.
For Greater Hyderabad region and neighbouring districts including Medchal-Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Bhongir, the IMD-Hyderabad has issued a thunderstorm warning from Tuesday, June 2.
In addition to the temperature shift, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places across the State.
Several districts including Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal are expected to witness thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds from Sunday itself.
