Sangareddy: A remand prisoner died, reportedly of a cardiac arrest after he suffered seizures multiple times in Sangareddy Central Jail on Friday morning.
Jail Superintendent Santosh Roy said E Venkat (36), a resident of Narsapur town in Meadk district, suffered seizures late on Thursday night. The staff gave him medicine but his condition continued to be critical following which they shifted him to the government hospital in Sangareddy. He died there at 5.30 am on Friday.
Meanwhile, Venkat’s family members, who rushed to the spot, complained that they were not even allowed to see the body until 4.30 pm on Friday despite repeated appeals. Venkat’s elder brother Ramesh said they had reached the hospital at 7 am, but there was no response from the police or jail staff or hospital staff until evening.
