Suryapet: Expressing his ire over encroachment of nalas, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Friday instructed officials to remove structures illegally constructed on nalas in Manasa Nagar of Suryapet that was inundated in flood water due to rains last week.
The Minister, accompanied by officials, inspected a nala in Manasa Nagar and interacted with the residents of the colony.
When the residents of the colony brought to his notice the encroachments on the nala, the Minister inquired with officials about the actual width of the nala and its present condition. He instructed the officials of Suryapet municipality to take up marking of limits based on the width of the nala and remove the encroachments, if found. He directed the officials to be firm during demolition of illegal structures on the nala in the colony. He also ordered the Suryapet Municipal Commissioner to immediately take up the demolition of a wall which was constructed by private individuals through encroachment on the nala.
He also asked the officials to take measures to avoid recurrence of inundation of any residential area in Suryapet due to heavy rains.
Suryapet municipal chairperson Perumalla Annapurna Srinivas, municipal commissioner P Ramanjula Reddy and other officials were present.
