Mancherial: In a bizarre incident, a woman ended her life by hanging after she was reprimanded by her husband for being addicted to tobacco chewing in Dandepalli mandal centre on Sunday.

Dandepalli Sub-Inspector Srikanth said the deceased woman was Enagandula Jyothi (30), mother of two daughters aged below 5 and the wife of Satyanarayana from Dandepalli mandal headquarters.

Jyothi resorted to the extreme step when she was disheartened after Satyanarayana admonished her against her addiction to tobacco chewing, considering the adverse impact it would have on her health. She committed suicide when her husband was not at home. Her eldest daughter noticed the body and informed the neighbors who in turn alerted the woman’s parents.

“My sister and brother-in-law used to fight with each other over her addition to tobacco chewing she developed quite long ago. She was depressed when her husband as usual warned her to quit the habit on Saturday too,” Jyoti’s brother G Ranjith Kumar stated in a complaint lodged with local police.
