Retired teacher killed as truck mows down bike in Adilabad

Adilabad: A 63-year-old retired teacher was killed on the spot when he accidentally came under the wheels of a speeding truck at Collectorate chowrasta here on Wednesday.

Police said that Devolla Narayana received serious injuries when a truck mowed a two-wheeler in which he was travelling at the junction, resulting in instantaneous death for him. He was crushed to death, according to a video clip that went viral on social media platforms.

Based on a complaint received from a family member of Nararayana, a case was registered against the driver of the truck. Investigations are on.

Meanwhile, locals urged the officials to take steps to prevent road accidents at the traffic island. They said that 40 persons sustained injuries in road mishaps occured at the junction.
