Hyderabad: Castigating the Congress government for its repeated failures, BRS working president KT Rama Rao emphasised the need to bring back party president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to power for setting the State back on the development track. He blamed Congress for manipulating public sentiment to win the elections and now, betraying them.
“The defeat of BRS was not the people’s fault. A criminal misled them with hatred against Chandrashekhar Rao to win elections. We too failed to publicise the good work done under BRS regime. Now, Telangana is paying the price. The so-called ‘Indiramma Rajyam’ has only brought suffering,” he said.
Addressing a meeting of party activists in Karimnagar on Sunday, Rama Rao said the Congress had pushed Telangana into a crisis, with farmers suffering severe distress. “Loan waivers remain incomplete, crop losses are ignored, and agriculture is in crisis. Our leader Chandrashekhar Rao had warned that voting for Congress would destroy the farmers’ lives, and it has happened,” he said.
He stated that while farmers struggle, Congress leaders were busy filling their pockets and sending money to their Delhi bosses. He slammed the Congress government for targeting BRS leaders to settle political scores and warned that none would be spared after the BRS returns to power in the next term. The BRS working president said both Congress and BJP were working against Telangana’s interests. He stated that while Rahul Gandhi’s promises had turned into lies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership had failed to deliver anything for the State.
Rama Rao rebuked Modi for his failures, questioning what the BJP had done for Telangana. “Where are the 2 crore jobs per year that were promised? Where is the Rs 15 lakh in Jan Dhan accounts? BJP has not built a single school, temple, or medical college in Karimnagar. It is BRS that developed this city into a smart city,” he said.
He stated that the BJP-led Centre was planning to take up delimitation based on the population and penalise the Southern States by restricting their representation in Parliament.
The former Minister credited Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership for turning Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme into a lifeline for agriculture, modernising the Manair River, and establishing numerous Gurukul schools across Telangana. “Even Artificial Intelligence Grok ranks K Chandrashekhar Rao as the best Chief Minister in 75 years. That speaks volumes,” he said.
Declaring that BRS would launch a massive membership drive after the public meeting on April 27, Rama Rao said only dedicated leaders who work for the people would get party tickets. He called on activists to ensure a clean sweep in Karimnagar in the next elections, reaffirming the district’s historical role in Telangana’s political battles.
