Hyderabad: Senior BRS MLA and former Minister G Jagadish Reddy charged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with turning the worst nightmares of Telangana agitators into a reality and surrendering Telangana’s water rights to Andhra Pradesh. He said Revanth Reddy was acting as per a script sent by AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and must step down for betraying people of Telangana once again.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, Jagadish Reddy said the Congress government is compromising on Telangana’s hard-won rights on Godavari and Krishna River waters. He said anti-Telangana forces were against the State to take away its rightful share in river waters.
The former Minister demanded that Revanth Reddy must resign immediately as he had no right to secretly struck deals with his AP counterpart during the Delhi visit. He stated that Revanth Reddy was sacrificing Telangana’s interests to safeguard his post. “Why did Revanth Reddy not demand an Apex Council meeting? Is he afraid of going to jail again?” he questioned.
Jagadish Reddy suspected that Revanth Reddy might employ diversionary tactics by targeting BRS working president KT Rama Rao and issuing notices again, to distract people’s attention from this betrayal. He also condemned the Chief Minister’s inaction for activating the Kaleshwaram project pumps, while quietly facilitating release of Godavari River waters to Rayalaseema.
He accused the BJP leaders of siding with Revanth Reddy for political convenience in Andhra Pradesh. He warned that the BRS will not remain silent when it comes to Telangana and its rights.
