Revanth Reddy appeals to Centre to sanction 20 lakh houses under PM Awas Yojana

The Telangana Chief Minister also seeks approval and allocation of funds for the proposed Metro Phase II under joint venture

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy appealed to Union Minister for Housing and Urban Development Manohar Lal Khattar to sanction 20 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, approve and allocate funds for the proposed Metro Phase II under joint venture and allocate 2,500 MW under the Kusum-C FLS component to Telangana.

He attended a review on Urban Development- PMAY (Urban ) and the power sector conducted by the Union Minister here on Friday.


During the meeting, the Chief Minister said of the six corridors envisaged under Metro Phase-II, DPRs for the first five corridors (76.4 km) were already submitted and it required Rs.24,269 crore to construct the corridors. He also sought assistance for construction of canals on 55 km (total 110 km) stretch, box drains and STPs on both sides of the River Musi to prevent the sewage entering Musi. Towards this, an appeal was made to allocate Rs. 10,000 crores for Musi project.

Further, he informed Manohar Lal that a Comprehensive Sewerage Major Plan (CSMP) has been prepared at a cost of Rs. 17,212 crores for the construction of sewerage network in Hyderabad city and 27 nearby urban bodies. The Chief Minister also requested to allocate central funds to undertake the Comprehensive Groundwater Drainage (UGD) project at a cost of Rs. 41.70 crore in Warangal

In the same meeting, an appeal was also made to allocate 1 lakh solar pumps under PM Kusum to ensure continuous supply of irrigation water to tribal farmers in Telangana. The union Minister was also requested to allocate 2,500 MW under the Kusum-C FLS component to the State.

This apart, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and the CM also appealed to include Telangana DISCOMs in the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and reduce the interest rates on loans given by the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) to the state power utilities.
