Hyderabad: Not one to leave any opportunity to attack the opposition, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy turned the inauguration of the Telangana Public School at Arutla into a platform to attack the opposition. While the event was organised to showcase the government’s education initiatives, he spent quality time criticising the opposition BRS for levelling allegations.
Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the school on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy outlined the government’s plans to strengthen public education through Telangana Public Schools, Young India Integrated Residential Schools, sports promotion and skill development programmes. He said the government was working to improve the education system, provide quality school kits and uniforms, and establish a Telangana Public School in every Assembly constituency.
However, a significant portion of his speech was devoted to countering opposition criticism and attacking political rivals. Referring to his exhibition match with Lionel Messi in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister accused the opposition of opposing initiatives meant to inspire youth. He said those indulging in politics driven by jealousy and spite, would not even retain the status of the opposition in future.
He also dismissed the allegations of irregularities in school kit tenders as baseless and accused the BRS of making charges without verifying facts. He rubbished the allegation of Rs 2,000 crore scam in school kits tenders, stating that the tenders were worth Rs 650 crore.
The Chief Minister said 1,814 students had already enrolled in the Arutla Telangana Public School and announced plans to expand the model across the state. He also spoke about upcoming initiatives in skill development, sports training and anti-drug awareness campaigns aimed at Telangana’s youth. He announced that a massive awareness campaign against use of drugs and narcotic substances will launched on June 19 at LB Stadium in Hyderabad.
