Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has claimed that he is wealthier than BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao. He also said that his family has been financially well-off since his childhood.
Speaking informally to media persons in New Delhi on Friday, Revanth Reddy maintained that he was untainted despite facing charges in the Cash-for-Vote case. “I am like a plain sheet of paper,” he said.
The Chief Minister also announced that disqualified MLA Danam Nagender would be the Congress candidate from the Khairatabad constituency. There had been speculation over the Congress candidate for the by-election following Nagender’s disqualification. He was disqualified for contesting the Lok Sabha elections while continuing as a BRS MLA.
On the Kaleshwaram project, Revanth Reddy reiterated that the State government would act on the recommendations of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). The NDSA is currently assessing the project to determine the repairs required. Revanth Reddy said the project was built using public funds and that the government would take decisions based on expert advice.
“Any under-construction project does not fall under the purview of the Centre. But once construction is completed and it becomes operational, it will fall under the purview of the NDSA,” he said.
Defending the government’s decision to drop the proposed flyover and underpass at KBR Park, the Chief Minister said the one-way traffic system had addressed congestion around the park. He maintained that the arrangement had ultimately proved to be a solution to the traffic problem.
Revanth Reddy also said the State government had decided to take over Metro Phase 1 following a suggestion from the Central government. He said the government had entered into an agreement with L&T and that the Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) had cleared the loan. However, he alleged that obstacles were now being created to prevent the loan from being sanctioned.
