Hyderabad: Amid stiff opposition from Congress leaders, including Labour Minister G Vivek Venkatswamy, over SC sub-categorisation, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy claimed that the move was taken up to permanently resolve differences among communities.
He said there could be temporary sadness or pain for a few leaders, yet the categorisation would ultimately pave the way for lasting bonding between various sections. Addressing the Ande Sri Memorial meeting here on Saturday, the Chief Minister stated that the intention behind categorisation was not to confine the community to minor jobs, but to enable its members to excel as doctors, engineers and lawyers.
“In the State cabinet, there are four Dalits, including the Speaker and three Reddys. Dalits constitute 17 percent population but they have been given 27 percent share in the cabinet, excluding Girijans,” Revanth Reddy said, staying oblivious to the fact that there were four Reddy Ministers, including himself, in the cabinet.
