Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed irrigation officials to prepare detailed plans for diverting 80 tmcft of water from Tummidi Hatti to Sundilla and to finalise estimates for repairing the Sundilla barrage.
The Chief Minister said the barrage repairs were necessary to ensure water supply to the Sripada Yellampalli project. At a review meeting with irrigation officials here, Revanth Reddy enquired about the status of the Sundilla barrage damage and stressed that repair estimates should be prepared considering the earlier works. He issued specific instructions to senior officials to prepare plans for supplying irrigation and drinking water to the erstwhile Adilabad district.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the contents of Union Minister for Jal Shakti C R Patil’s recent letter to the State government and made several suggestions, including the preparation of project-wise analysis reports. During discussions on Medigadda, Sundilla and Annaram barrages, Revanth Reddy instructed officials to devise constructive and time-bound plans for the repairs.
“Ensure that the contract agencies are held responsible for repair works,” the Chief Minister told the officials.
He added that another review meeting would be held in the second week of November to discuss the next steps based on the comprehensive project-wise reports.
