Hyderabad: Dodging questions over the Telangana government’s failure in implementation of “electoral guarantees” assured to people, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy sought to divert the attention by talking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unfulfilled promises.

At a national television news channel programme in New Delhi on Friday, the Chief Minister was asked about the promises to extend Rs.15,000 per acre financial assistance to farmers and Rs.12,000 to farm labourers, besides monthly financial assistance to women.

However, he dodged these questions and tried to point out the Prime Minister’s unkept promises. “Did Modi ji deposit Rs.15 lakh each in poor people’s bank account or did he double farmers’ income?” he countered.

The Prime Minister has been deceiving the people since last 11 years but no one questions him, he said, adding “Just because Congress believes in democracy, we are being targeted,”

On the Prime Minister’s charges that Telangana was made Congress party’s ATM and “RR Tax” was being levied, the Chief Minister replied that evidences should be produced and sweeping remarks should not be made by the Prime Minister.

Regarding the controversy surrounding Adani Group’s investments in Telangana and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi opposing Adani in New Delhi, he said people should not read between the lines.

Rahul Gandhiji was not against Adani and Ambani investments. All he wanted was a fair level playing field for all competitors and no out of the way allocations to Adani Group, he said, referring to the Mumbai Airport being handed over to Adani Group from GVK Group.

“I am not extending any out of the way favour to Adani or any other person,” Revanth Reddy maintained.
