Revanth Reddy found on electoral rolls of two Assembly constituencies
Electoral roll data shows Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy listed as a voter in both Kodangal and Achampet Assembly constituencies. The records also contain a spelling discrepancy in his name, while the prescribed process allows correction of such entries.
Hyderabad: Despite holding a responsible position, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was enrolled in the electoral rolls of two Assembly constituencies under two different Parliamentary constituencies, according to electoral roll data.
Under the Representation of the People Act, 1950, a person is not entitled to be registered in the electoral rolls of more than one constituency.
The electoral rolls show Revanth Reddy as a voter in the Kodangal Assembly constituency under the Mahabubnagar Parliamentary constituency. His name also appears in the Achampet Assembly constituency under the Nagarkurnool Parliamentary constituency. The EPIC number in both entries is TES0274035.
The records also show a discrepancy in the spelling of the Chief Minister’s name. In both constituencies, it is recorded as “Anumula Revant Reddy”, son of Narasimha Reddy, instead of the correct spelling, “Revanth”.
The Achampet entry lists House No. 3-48, corresponding to his residential address in Kondareddypally village of Vangoor mandal. The Kodangal entry records the house number as 1-209.
As per the prescribed procedure, the spelling error can be corrected by submitting Form 8 to the Electoral Registration Officer concerned. To remove the duplicate entry, Form 7 can be submitted voluntarily to the Electoral Registration Officer of the constituency where the voter does not ordinarily reside, seeking deletion of one of the entries so that the name remains in only one constituency.
It may be recalled that recently, a Bengaluru court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against film actor Prakash Raj after he was reportedly enrolled as a voter in multiple States, including Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. According to reports, Prakash Raj was later granted bail, and the legal proceedings are continuing.
