Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday credited successive Congress and TDP governments, particularly N Chandrababu Naidu, for shaping Hyderabad into an IT hub. Strikingly, he omitted any reference to former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, under whose tenure Hyderabad saw major infrastructural expansion in the past decade.

Speaking after laying the foundation for an integrated sub-registrar office at Gachibowli on Wednesday, Revanth Reddy lauded the Nizams, Congress leaders, and particularly Naidu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy for their ‘visionary leadership.’ He described Naidu as the architect of Hyderabad’s IT revolution, citing his role in establishing HITEC City, the Gachibowli stadium, Emaar Boulder Hills, and attracting MNCs.

“Naidu’s vision not only brought crores in revenue but also created thousands of jobs. But for the last 15 years, there has been no progress,” he alleged.

At the same time, the Chief Minister lamented that Hyderabad had become ‘murky’ with traffic woes and inundation even after small spells of rain. He promised to transform the city through the Musi Riverfront Project and the Future City project.

Notably, Revanth Reddy refrained from mentioning Chandrashekhar Rao, under whose tenure Hyderabad consolidated its position as a global IT hub and water pipelines from Kaleshwaram lifted Godavari waters to the capital. Ironically, he announced an ambitious plan to bring 20 TMCft of Godavari water to rejuvenate the Musi River, without acknowledging its dependence on Kaleshwaram project infrastructure.

Around 11 integrated sub-registrar offices would be constructed over the next one year, he said.
