Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and sought approvals for different projects, including Regional Ring Road and funds for Metro Rail Phase II amongst others. He had made similar appeals to the Prime Minister in February as well.

In the Saturday’s meeting, he reminded the Prime Minister that Telangana government had submitted Phase-II proposals to Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in November last. The Ministry had sought some clarifications from the State government and the same have been clarified, he said.

The Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister to give Cabinet approval for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II. The estimated cost of Phase-II is Rs 24,269 crore. Of these, Union government’s share will be 18% (Rs 4,230 crore); Telangana government’s share will be 30% (Rs 7,313 crore) and debt component will be 48% (Rs 11,693 crore).

Regarding the Regional Ring Road (RRR), the Chief Minister reiterated that Telangana government was sharing 50 per cent of the land acquisition cost. He urged the Prime Minister to accord Cabinet and financial approval for Northern part of the RRR.

Further, if Southern part was proposed to be taken up after completion of Northern part, it would escalate land acquisition cost, besides construction cost, he said.

“Request you to sanction the Southern part along with Northern Part. Unless both Northern and Southern parts are taken up simultaneously and completed, both sections cannot be put to efficient use,” Revanth Reddy said.

The Chief Minister also appealed about the Regional Ring Railway covering around 370 Kms long the RRR. This apart, the Green field Expressway proposed from Dry Port to Bandar Port would enhance connectivity and reduce freight cost and supports the region’s industrial and export requirements, he said to the Prime Minister.

An appeal was made to strengthen Telangana’s position in India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem. Stating that the State was fully aligned with India’s Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Chief Minister sought the Prime Minister’s intervention to secure ISM project approval for Telangana.

Similarly, a request was made to support defence projects, including defence PSUs and private sector defence joint ventures, capacity building of Defence MSMEs and promotion of defence ecosystem in Hyderabad.

“Official notification of Hyderabad-Bangalore as a Defence Corridor will provide the much-needed support,” Revanth Reddy said to the Prime Minister, besides appealing him to host the DefExpo in Hyderabad.
