Medak: Former Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had allowed Andhra Pradesh to draw Godavari water as a political “guru dakshina” to his mentor and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, by halting the lifting of water from the Medigadda barrage.

Addressing reporters in Narsapur, Harish Rao said the Telangana government was in a position to fill all reservoirs built under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) by lifting water from the Kannepalli pump house. However, Revanth had deliberately stalled water lifting to politically malign former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and the BRS, he claimed.

Rao said the Congress government had allowed Godavari water to go waste, while reservoirs in north Telangana remained at dead storage levels, leading to delays in paddy cultivation by farmers.

Highlighting other alleged failures, the former Minister accused the Revanth Reddy-led government of removing two lakh Aasara pensions after coming to power and failing to fulfil its promise of increasing the pension amount to Rs 4,000.

He also criticised the frequent trips made by the Chief Minister to Delhi, stating that Revanth was more interested in pleasing the Congress high command than focusing on governance.

Rao slammed the State government for not finalising tenders for egg supply to schools and Anganwadi centres, and blamed it for the shortage of funds in tribal welfare residential hostels, leading to operational difficulties.

Commenting on the recent ACB raids at hostels near Narsapur, Harish Rao alleged that the government was using raids to divert attention from its own administrative failures.

Accusing the Congress of initiating development works with the intent of earning commissions, he further claimed that enquiry commissions against opposition leaders were being set up to deflect public attention from the government’s lapses.

Narsapur MLA V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy was also present.
