Hyderabad: Like in previous meetings, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy once again directed District Collectors to conduct field visits for at least 10 days every month, as his earlier orders not being followed in spirit.

Stating that District Collectors were the eyes and ears of the government, the Chief Minister said they must serve as a bridge between the government and the people.

“This government is closely monitoring the Collectors. We will know your performance based on the annual report. Another meeting on the Collectors performance will be held in June,” Revanth Reddy said during a meeting with the Collectors here on Tuesday.

Last July, during a meeting with the Collectors, the Chief Minister had issued similar instructions, specifically ordering them to conduct daily field inspections and directing Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao and the CMO to submit daily work reports of Collectors across all 33 districts.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the Chief Minister told the Collectors that they would continue in their positions only if they worked effectively at the field level.

“If you do not visit the field, you will never understand the problems of the people. I am ordering you to visit the field at least 10 days a month,” Revanth Reddy told the Collectors.

The meeting was convened to discuss preparations for the 99-day “Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika” programme to be taken up from March 6 to June 12.

As food poisoning cases continue to be reported from different parts of the State, the Chief Minister again directed District Collectors to have mid-day meals along with students in a government school at least once a week.
