Bhupalpally: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is trying to divert public attention from the BRS’s Jagtial meeting to be held on April 20 by scheduling his proposed visit to the Medigadda barrage on the same day, alleged former Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao.
A delegation of BRS leaders, comprising Dayakar Rao, ex-MP M Kavitha, ex-MLAs Putta Madhukar, Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, Shanker Naik, Dasari Manohar Reddy and others, visited the Medigadda barrage in the district on Saturday as part of the ‘Chalo Kaleshwaram-Dekho Medigadda’ programme.
Speaking to the media, Dayakar Rao demanded that Revanth Reddy explain to the public why he is going to visit Medigadda on April 20. In the past, when BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao organised a public meeting at Nalgonda, Revanth Reddy scheduled a programme at Medigadda.
Now, as Chandrashekhar Rao is going to address a public meeting at Jagtial, Revanth Reddy is once again heading to Medigadda to hold a meeting there. The mere mention of Chandrashekhar Rao’s name makes Revanth Reddy “tremble with fear”. The Jagtial meeting is poised to be an unprecedented success, with people voluntarily attending it, he noted.
Instead of carrying out repairs to two Medigadda pillars that had subsided slightly, the Congress government spent two-and-a-half years spreading malicious propaganda, claiming that the Kaleshwaram project had collapsed and been washed away, Dayakar Rao alleged.
Showing those two pillars at Medigadda as an excuse, the entire Kaleshwaram project has been sidelined. Despite L&T offering to carry out repairs within the warranty period, Revanth Reddy deliberately shelved the project to gain political mileage, while allowing the illegal sand mafia to operate unchecked, he said.
Dayakar Rao further noted that when Revanth Reddy was building his house, one of the pillars developed a bulge, and sought to know whether Revanth Reddy abandoned the house construction because of that. The BJP, which had previously praised the Kaleshwaram project, is now levelling allegations against it, he added.
Vinay Bhaskar stated that Chandrashekhar Rao constructed the Kaleshwaram project to provide irrigation and drinking water to the people of Telangana. The BRS delegation visited Medigadda to demonstrate to the Congress government and Revanth Reddy the significance of the Kaleshwaram project and to prove that it has not collapsed, he said.
