Hyderabad: Realising the impact of his remarks in the State Assembly about Tollywood, particularly in relation to the Sandhya theatre stampede incident, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday made efforts to reach out to the Telugu film industry.

He stated that while the Congress government might appear stern at times, it has always regarded the film industry with affection and was committed to extending full support.

“Set aside all the issues of the past and partner with the State government. Let us all march ahead towards development,” Revanth Reddy said at the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards presentation ceremony here on Saturday.

He added that any decisions taken by the government were intended to promote and encourage the industry. Like the IT, pharmaceutical and defence sectors, the film industry too should excel nationally, he said.

The Chief Minister presented the Best Leading Actor award to Allu Arjun for Pushpa 2. After receiving the award, Allu Arjun, with the Chief Minister’s permission, delivered his popular dialogue “Thaggede le”, to loud cheers and whistles from the audience.

In a lighter moment, the Chief Minister turned to noted director SS Rajamouli and asked why Hollywood and Bollywood were not being brought to Telangana.

“Hollywood is not America and Bollywood is not Mumbai, all these industries should be here in Hyderabad. List out what you want, the State government will extend all support,” Revanth Reddy told the acclaimed filmmaker.
