Revanth seeks Centre’s nod for Hyderabad Metro Phase-II expansion
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged the Centre to expedite approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II expansion, covering 122.9 km across seven corridors at a cost of Rs 38,595 crore.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged the Centre to expedite approval for the Phase-II expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail.
He stated that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Phase-II which covered 122.9 km across seven corridors at an estimated cost of Rs 38,595 crore, has already been submitted.
During a meeting with Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi, the Chief Minister outlined the scale and urgency of the proposal. He stressed that Hyderabad’s rapid urban growth demanded an expanded metro network to ease commuter pressure and improve connectivity.
He informed the Union Minister that the State had taken over Phase-I operations from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited to ensure smoother execution of future expansions.
Further, Revanth Reddy sought the Centre’s partnership in funding and implementing Phase-II. He claimed that with Phase-I now under government control, subsequent phases could be executed more efficiently.
He also pushed for the proposed Rajiv Gandhi International Airport–Future City corridor to be taken up under Phase-III. He said the DPR for this phase has also been prepared and submitted.
