Revanth Reddy seeks to deflect criticism of he not meeting Gandhis, claims he is close to them
Telangana Chief Minister says he need not take photographs with the Gandhis and produce them in public domain, maintains cordial relations with the family
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy sought to deflect the general perception that he was being cold-shouldered by the Gandhi family, claiming that he was indeed maintaining cordial relations with the family.
In an informal chat with newsmen in Delhi on Thursday, Revanth Reddy said he need not take photographs with the Gandhi family members and produce them in public domain.
“Without knowing me, why would they appoint me as PCC president and Chief Minister? It is a deliberate campaign to mislead people. I will not fall into such traps,” he argued.
The party circles were agog with discussions about how Revanth Reddy was not granted audience by neither Rahul Gandhi nor Sonia Gandhi during many of his sojourns to New Delhi.
In recent times, Revanth Reddy flew to Delhi 39 times so far and, notably, Rahul and Sonia did not give him an appointment. Even on Thursday, he flew to New Delhi and returned to Hyderabad by evening without meeting the Gandhis.
However, he called on External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and sought his support to Telangana in organising programmes and other initiatives.
The Telangana government is hosting Miss World, Global Deep Tech Summit, Bharat Summit, Animation Gaming, VFX and India Joy, which showcase the State as the hub for entertainment industry.
Revanth Reddy said Union Ministers play a key role in the approval of projects and sanction of funds to States. But Minister Kishan Reddy was neglecting such issues.
“If the Union Cabinet approves Metro expansion works in Hyderabad, the State government is prepared to execute them at a brisk pace,” he said.
