Hyderabad: With Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy staying put in Hyderabad and not boarding a flight to New Delhi, hopes of aspirants, who are expecting formal announcement on cabinet berth and TPCC posts, got dashed.

The party high command had summoned the Chief Minister, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and senior leaders to New Delhi on Friday to discuss party issues.

This was after the Chief Minister and the TPCC president met with AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal in the national capital on Sunday. They were asked to stay put in the capital on Monday for further discussions and meetings with AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

However, the AICC chief and Rahul Gandhi’s appointments were not confirmed and the meeting did not happen, forcing the Chief Minister to fly back home dejected. The AICC had again directed the Chief Minister and TPCC president to visit New Delhi on Friday.

“There is no official communication over AICC Chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s appointment, hence the Chief Minister stayed back in Hyderabad,” sources in Gandhi Bhavan said. Accordingly, the TPCC president and other senior leaders had also cancelled their visit.

Over possibilities of the meeting being scheduled next week, a senior leader said nothing was confirmed so far. Considering the fact Miss World competition finale was scheduled on Saturday and State Formation Day celebrations on June 2, the chances were appearing bleak, the leader said.

Meanwhile, the delay over the announcement on cabinet expansion and TPCC working presidents, vice presidents, general secretaries and filling up of nominated posts is leaving the aspirants restless.

On Thursday, a few Madiga community MLAs flew to New Delhi and wanted to meet AICC leaders to seek a berth in the cabinet. The BC community, too, is exerting pressure on the high command to accommodate MLAs from the community.
