Hyderabad: Sangareddy MLA and TPCC working president T Jagga Reddy has appealed to AICC president Sonia Gandhi to direct TPCC president A Revanth Reddy to change his style of functioning or appoint a new TPCC chief who works for the party’s prospects in the State.
In a letter to AICC president and Rahul Gandhi on Monday, the MLA took serious objection to Revanth Reddy’s call for a ‘Rachabanda’ at Erravelli without any prior intimation to him despite him being the local MLA. Expressing dissatisfaction, he said Revanth Reddy was not functioning along party lines and was instead, using such programmes for his own benefit.
“I sense something fishy in Revanth Reddy’s style. I humbly request you to kindly look into the matter and conduct an enquiry,” Jagga Reddy said, adding that TPCC president’s attitude was causing hardships to leaders in the party. The TPCC president was taking up programmes without discussing with party leaders or with the district leaders concerned.
He held a press conference and announced his visit to Erravelli which falls under Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s Assembly Constituency to hold “Rachabanda programme,” Jagga Reddy said, adding that all these programmes taken up by the TPCC president were not in the party’s interest but only to project his personnel image. The matter was taken up TPCC Co-ordination Committee In-charge Mahesh Kumar Goud and he replied that it was not correct on the part of Revanth Reddy,” he said.
“It is also appropriate here to mention that in the recent bye-election in Huzurabad, under Revanth Reddy’s leadership, Congress candidate got only 3,000 votes against its vote bank of more than 40,000. This has to be taken very seriously and assessed,” he pointed out.
Similarly, in the recent elections held for 12 Local Bodies’ MLC seats, it was most unfortunate that TPCC president decided not to contest the elections, the MLA said. The TPCC president does not have a grip at the grassroot levels and does not possess any experience to go into the village level, mandal level and work for the Congress, he said.
“He succeeded as a star leader in public meetings and is only aiming at gaining personal mileage with huge publicity. This is a dangerous trend that will cost the Congress dearly in the long run,” Jagga Reddy said in the letter. Former MP V Hanumanth Rao also echoed similar feelings and said the party leadership should have informed Jagga Reddy regarding the party programme in his district. “The TPCC president should take along all the leaders and not work on an individual basis. The matter will be taken up with party incharge Manickam Tagore,” said Hanumanth Rao.
