Known as PSU or Pitt State, Pittsburg State University is a public university in Pittsburg, Kansas. The university started as the Auxiliary Manual Training Normal School in 1903 and was converted into a full-time, four-year institution of higher education as ‘Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg’ in 1913. It was finally granted the status of a university and called Pittsburg State University in 1977. Located in Southeast Kansas, the 223-acre campus is also the home of the $30 million Kansas Technology Center, a state-of-the-art technology program in the largest academic building in Kansas.
The university enrolls approximately 7,400 students (6,000 undergraduates and 1,400 graduate students). It is also a member of the Kansas Board of Regents and offers various academic programmes and facilities to over 400 international students from 40 countries. Moreover, two further degrees are offered on the campus of Salina Area Technical College.
