RGIA police arrest Chennai techie for making nationwide bomb threat emails to implicate her male colleague
A Chennai-based techie, Rene Joshilda, was arrested by RGIA police for sending hoax bomb threat emails to institutions across 12 states, including Hyderabad airport. Police say she aimed to frame a former colleague who had rejected her proposal
Hyderabad: The RGIA police have arrested Rene Joshilda, a Chennai-based techie, for allegedly sending hoax bomb threat emails to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Saturday.
Joshilda is accused of sending around 21 hoax bomb threats to various institutions across 12 states, including RGIA, in an alleged attempt to frame a former colleague who had rejected her marriage proposal. Multiple cases were registered against her across the country, including two under the RGIA Police Station limits this year.
According to available information, Joshilda, a former senior consultant with a reputed Chennai-based firm, targeted schools, a cricket stadium, and a medical college with fake bomb threats. Shockingly, in one of her emails, she allegedly claimed responsibility for the Air India Ahmedabad–London plane crash on June 12, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 260 people, both onboard and on the ground.
Police sources revealed that Joshilda was reportedly obsessed with her male colleague and acted out of unreciprocated affection. The entire scheme was allegedly orchestrated to implicate him in criminal cases.
The RGIA police have taken her into custody in connection with the two bomb threat cases registered within their jurisdiction. She has since been remanded to judicial custody.
