Administrative Officer of RGUKT Y Rajeshwar Rao releases the list of provisionally selected candidates for admissions into B Tech programmes for 2020-21 academic year in Basar on Tuesday
Nirmal: The authorities of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies (RGUKT)-Basar on Tuesday released the first list of 1,193 provisionally selected candidates for admissions into the six-year long integrated engineering courses offered by the institution for the 2020-2021 academic year, under Phase-I.
Addressing pressmen, Administrative Officer Y Rajeshswar Rao said that the selection was made in accordance with the Presidential Order, Article 371(D), in concurrence with the amended Statute-13(3) of RGUKT Act and the direction of the Government which provides the addition of deprivation score (DS) of 0.4 to the Class X GPA of the applicants from non-residential Government schools including Zilla Parishad and Municipal Schools.
85 pc of seats for local students
The Administrative Officer stated 85 percent of seats were reserved for students belonging to Telangana and 15 percent were meant for both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He said that the counseling of the shortlisted students belonging to Phase I would be carried out soon. He added that counseling and admissions under the global category would be notified soon.
Jagtial tops with 86
Jagtial district stood in the top position with 86 students being shortlisted by the university. Narayanpet district was figured at the bottom following barely four students of this district were among the selected. Nizamabad and Nalgonda districts were at second and third spots. A total of 30 applicants belonging to Mancherial, 23 students of Adilabad, 15 from Nirmal and seven of Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts were shortlisted for pursuing B. Tech programme.
RGUKT received a total of 40,159 applications for 1,500 seats available at the institution. Of them, 38,119 were found to be valid. As many as 23,331 applicants belonged to government run schools, while 11,703 were from private institutions. A sum of 946 dropped applications willing to join the unfilled seats under global category. Forty students of various states were among the applicants.
