Hyderabad: Ram Gopal Varma’s movie ‘Aasha Encounter’ mirrors the Shadnagar gangrape incident that shook the country. RGV dropped the trailer on Sunday with a tweet.
The incident, which occurred on November 26 in 2019 on the city outskirts at Chatanpally near Shadnagar, created a storm in the country and led to nation-wide protests. The woman was brutally raped by four youngsters and burnt to death. Later, all the four accused were allegedly killed while trying to flee, by the police. Although RGV’s film is inspired by true events, the maverick director has been reiterating that the film is based on fictional elements.
The movie is directed by Anand Chandra and will be released on the same day when the incident occurred on November 26. “AASHA ENCOUNTER is a fictional film with fictional characters ..November 26 th date is just coincidental,” he wrote on his Twitter handle adding a link of the trailer.
Varma further said the film got delayed due to Covid-induced lockdown and other legal issues.
