Adilabad: District Collector Sikta Patnaik said that the right to vote was essential for protecting the democracy of one of the largest countries of the world. She was speaking at a programme held to mark national voters’ day here on Tuesday.
Addressing a gathering, Sikta requested those aged above 18 years to enroll their names as voters in electoral rolls and asked the authorities concerned to create awareness among youngsters aged 16 and 17 over the electoral system. The electors should freely, impartially utilize votes without showing bias towards a caste and creed, she opined.
The IAS officer appreciated officers, staffers and booth-level officials who took part in the special summary revision of 2022. She stated the election commission of India selected Sweep Nodal officer B Laxman for giving cash rewards considering his outstanding services.
She stressed the need to ensure that all aged above 18 should register their names in the electoral rolls in the district. Additional Collector N Nataraj, Adilabad Revenue Divisional Officer Rajeshwar, Sweep Core committee member N Bheem Kumar, Administrative Officer Aravind Kumar and many others were present.
