Hyderabad: Touted as the next big thing in Indian cricketer, Rishabh Pant has been finding it hard to make a comeback to the Indian side.
A poor run in the IPL meant the dashing left-hander had to warm the benches. With the Indian team done with the white ball series, focus now shifts to red-ball cricket. However, Pant, who is part of the touring Indian team, didn’t get a game even in the first warm-up, indicating that he may stick to the bench for more time.
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra felt the same. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said, “Rishabh Pant is standing last in the queue and at the bottom of the list of Indian wicket-keepers at the moment. The Indian team had one option, when we had the India A vs Australia A match, they could have played six batsmen instead of five. You could have got Wriddhiman Saha to keep wickets but play Rishabh for sure.”
“But now they have not played him there, and he was not there in the ODI and T20I squad. So, he has only gone as a tourist to Australia till now. He has not done any work till now,” he added.
