Rishi Pallagani and K Sri Charantej won the Open and Juniors categories respectively at the 232nd Brilliant Trophy Chess Tournament in Hyderabad, both scoring a perfect six points from six rounds

Hyderabad: Rishi Pallagani and K Sri Charantej won the Open category and the Juniors titles respectively in the 232nd Brilliant Trophy chess tournament held at Brilliant Grammar School, Dilsukhnagar, here on Sunday.

In the Juniors section, Charantej (Care Model High School, Tilaknagar) scored a perfect six points from six rounds to win the title. Pratheek Veekshith and Saujas Srihari finished second and third respectively, with five points each from six rounds.


In the Open category, Rishi Pallagani clinched top honours with six points from six rounds. Aarush Reddy and R V S S Ramanjaneyulu secured the second and third positions, scoring five points each.

Final placings: Open category: 1. Rishi Palagani, 2. Aarush Reddy, 3.R.V.S.S Ramanjaneyulu, 4. Manoj Reddy, 5. M.Vivek Kumar, 6. R.Prakash, 7. Nigama Sree, 8. Koundinya, 9. M. Sumanth and 10. Raju

Boys: Under-15: 1. V. Akshay Kumar, 2. Mukunda Kaunteya.

Juniors: 1. K. Sri Charantej, 2. Pratheek Veekshith, 3. Saujas Srihari.

Boys: Under-13: 1. M. Aarush, 2. Md. Ajmal Ahmed.

Under-11: 1. Saujas Srihari, 2. A. Virat.

Under-9: 1. Prateek Veekshith, 2. Hayagreeva Maruthi.

Under-7: 1. D. Soorya Shoumik, 2. Yuvan Manne.

Girls: Under-13: 1. Himaja Prakhya, 2. Bilvani.

Under-11: 1. R. Manaswini, 2. Harini Balina.

Under-9: 1. Sharika Tunki, 2. R. Vishalini.

Under-7: 1. Serenity Tunki.

Best woman player: Sreeja.

Best veteran: Masood.
