Hyderabad: Four players — Hayagriva Maruthi, Mukunda Kaunteya, Sri Charantej, and Ranavaditya — shared the lead with three points each from three rounds in the Juniors category of the 232nd Brilliant Trophy Open Chess Tournament at Brilliant Grammar School (Dilsukhnagar) here on Saturday.

In the Open category, Rishi Pallagani, Sumanth Mamidala, and Varshith are in the lead with three points each out of three rounds, while Nigama Sree and Manoj Reddy are in second spot with 2.5 points.


Important results, 3rd round:
Juniors: Hayagriva Maruthi (3) bt Sharika Tunki (2); Shreyas (2) lost to Mukunda Kaunteya (3); Sri Charantej (3) bt Pratheek Veekahith (2); Ranavaditya (3) bt Sriha (2); Aditya Vardhan (1) lost to Akshay Kumar.

Open category: Rishi Pallagani (3) bt A Praveen Kumar (2); Sumanth Mamidala (3) bt Venkata Narendra (2); Pranith Goli (2) lost to Varshith (3); Nigama Sree (2.5) drew with Manoj Reddy (2.5); Md Irfan (2) bt Sai Karthik (1).
