Rising Stars and St Francis Boys triumph in basketball league

Rising Stars (Secunderabad) defeated WE3 ‘B’ 55-53 in a nail-biting match, while St. Francis Boys comfortably won 60-49 against Trinity BP in the Annual League Basketball Championship 2025-26 for the G M Sampath Kumar Trophy at YMCA Secunderabad

Hyderabad: Rising Stars (Secunderabad) scored a hard-fought 55-53 win over WE3 ‘B’, while St. Francis Boys comfortably defeated Trinity BP 60-49 in the Level-II stage of the Annual League Basketball Championship 2025-26 for the G M Sampath Kumar Trophy being held at YMCA Secunderabad.

The match was evenly contested, with both teams matching basket for basket. Chandrasekhar and Siddhartha scored 3-pointers apiece for WE3 ‘B’, while Srinivas, Johnson, and Yeshwanth chipped in with a drive-in shot apiece for Rising Stars, leading 7-5 at the end of the first quarter.


In the second quarter, Rising Stars continued their rhythm, scoring 13 points. However, Chandrasekhar and Siddhartha combined well to score 15 points between them, leveling the scores at 20-20 by half-time.

After the change of ends, Rising Stars tightened their defence to restrict WE3 ‘B’ to just 9 points. In turn, they played a fast-paced game, with Srinivas, Lokesh, and Yeshwanth scoring 18 points to take a decisive 38-29 lead at the end of the third quarter.

In the keenly fought final quarter, WE3 ‘B’ scored three-pointers, but it was not enough as Srinivas and Lokesh added timely baskets to win the match 55-53.

Rising Stars, Sec’bad 55 (Lokesh 16, Srinivas 14, Johnson 11, Yeshwanth 8) bt WE3 ‘B’ 53 (Chandrasekhar 22, Siddhartha 15, Sumanth 6).

St. Francis Boys 60 (Peter 19, Kalyan 16, Nitish 11, Shoaib 10) bt Trinity BP 49 (Clifton 19, Sammy 10, Prince 10).
