Hyderabad: Telangana’s young swimming talent Mittapalli Rithvika put up a brilliant performance winning one gold and two bronze in the Khelo India University Games in Rajasthan.

Rithvika won gold in 50m breaststroke and a bronze each in the 4 x 100m medley relay and 4 x 200m freestyle relay events.

The 18-year-old Rithvika, a student of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (Bhubaneshwar) represented that Institution, has earlier won gold in the Senior Nationals (50m breaststroke) in Odisha and also finished overall sixth in the Asian championship in Gujarat early this year.

Rithvika is now training in Bengaluru with the SAI national camp shifted from Delhi because of the weather condition in the national capital.

Prakash Rao, a private employee and the proud father of the young swimming champion, said that the next big assignments for Rithvika are the International meet in Dubai and the All India University Games in Chennai next month.
