Hyderabad: A dispute over alleged ritual offerings placed outside a house on Amavasya day led to a clash between two families at Shivajinagar Colony in Manikonda on Monday.
According to police, members of the families of Prabhakar and Narsimha, both neighbours, got into a heated argument after Narsimha’s family suspected that turmeric, vermilion and lemons had been placed in front of their residence as part of a ritual.
Prabhakar’s family denied the allegation, triggering a heated confrontation between members of the two families.
During the altercation, Uma Rani, Prabhakar’s sister, allegedly threw red chilli powder into the eyes of members of the rival family. A woman reportedly fell seriously ill after the incident and required medical attention.
Based on counter complaints, the Raidurgam Police have registered cases against both sides and taken up investigation.
