Nirmal: River lapwing, an endangered and fast dwindling bird species, was sighted in paddy fields of Nirmal district after a gap of three years at Chinna Bellala village in Kaddam mandal on Saturday.
Khanapur Forest Divisional Officer U Koteshwar Rao said that he had captured images of the bird when he was birding in the fields. He stated that the rare and inland winged wonder was spotted in the backwaters of Kaddam Narayana Reddy Project three years back. The bird was listed as near threatened by the International union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), he added.
