Hyderabad: Mohammad Rizwan from Navy Yacht Sailing Club sealed gold with one race to spare in the Optimist Main Fleet of the Tiscon Youth Open Regatta championship at Hussain Sagar Lake here on Tuesday.
Rizwan dominated on all three days while the contest for the silver remained close between Bongur Bunny and Akash Kumar, both from Telangana Sailing Club, just two points apart after nine races.
In the Optimist Main Fleet for girls, SK Rameeza Bhanu from Telangana Sailing Academy led narrowly over Shringhari Roy from Secunderabad Sailing Club by just one point, setting the stage for a gripping final showdown.
In the ILCA 4 boys category, Ramakant from Navy Yacht Sailing Club holds the lead with 6 points, closely followed by Preet Siwal from the same club in a neck-and-neck contest.
In the ILCA 4 category for girls, Aastha Pandey from Navy Boys Sports Company is ahead by five points over Katyayani Kaushik from Indian Naval Watermanship Training Centre, Mumbai.
The 420 Mixed category saw Thanuja Kameshwar and Sravan Katravath from Telangana Sailing Academy in the lead with 10 points, ahead of Samriddhi Batham and Prath Singh Chouhan from Navy Boys Sports Company.
In the 29er boys category, teammates from Navy Yacht Sailing Club — Ajay Gajji and Satyam Jha – shared the lead with just one point over Sharanya Jadhav and Shivam Walmiki from the same club.
Ardin Antony of Telangana Sailing Club topped the points table, holding on to a slim 1-point lead over Yuvraj, also from Telangana Sailing Club, in the Optimist Green Fleet category.
There is a tie at the top between Srishti Barar from Chilika Eco Sailing Club and J Shireesha from Telangana Sailing Academy, both showcasing excellent consistency in the Optimist Green Fleet girls category.
