Hyderabad Police issues fog safety advisory for motorists in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar has appealed to the citizens to avoid driving in dense fog conditions, especially during late night and early morning hours, as poor visibility across the State poses a serious threat to road safety.
With large-scale movement of people expected ahead of the Sankranti festival, the Commissioner through an advisory on his ‘X’ has said the eagerness to reach native places should not put lives at risk. He cautioned that thick fog, which makes it difficult to see what lies ahead on the road, has become a major cause of accidents.
The advisory strongly discourages travelling in private vehicles when visibility is low and urges motorists to begin their journey only after the fog clears and roads are clearly visible.
Emphasising the emotional toll of road accidents, the police appealed to travellers to ensure they return home safely to their families.
For unavoidable travel in foggy conditions, motorists have been advised to switch on fog lights and indicators, maintain adequate distance from vehicles ahead, and avoid overspeeding even if roads appear empty.
“Reaching home safely, even if it takes more time, is the real celebration,” the Commissioner said, calling on the citizens to prioritise safety during the festive season.
