Karimnagar: Good news for residents of Karimnagar. The much awaited round the clock water supply to homes will begun in the new year, according to Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao. Works were taken up for 24X7 water supply at a cost of Rs 101 crore. Round-the-clock water supply would be implemented on a pilot basis in Bhagathnagar, Kothirampur, and Housing Board colony. Later, it would be extended to entire town.
Speaking after inaugurating the drainage pipeline works in Vigneshwara colony of 12th division on Friday, the Mayor asked the contractors to complete the works on fast track mode without compromising on the quality. Sunil Rao said the governing body of Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar was working with a motto to develop the town on all fronts. Better facilities have been provided to the residents of all divisions by following the instructions and guidelines of BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar and TS Planning Board vice-chairman B Vinod Kumar.
Besides providing basic facilities, developmental works have also been taken up in all divisions according to wishes of the local people. Informing that Rs 350 crore worth works were taken up so far, he said almost all of them reached the final stage. Besides smart city funds, other works were also taken up with Rs 100 crore of MCK funds. 70 per cent of the work was already completed and the remaining works would be finished very soon. On the other hand, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for another Rs 315 crore worth works was also prepared.
Karimangar town, which was spread in 23 kilometers radius has now expanded to 60 kilometers radius during the last few years. So, the needs of the town have also increased. Keeping it in mind, roads, infrastructure and other basic facilities have been arranged to meet the needs of the people. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who has a special affection for Karimnagar town, took initiatives to provide smart city status to Karimnagar instead of Hyderabad. They were also working hard to reach the fruits of development to the people, the Mayor said.
