Hyderabad: Superstar Mahesh Babu has long been associated with popular soft drink brand Thums Up. Every ad commercial that came on television with Mahesh Babu making adventurous feats holding Thums Up in his hand – was a rage for his fans.
Of late, new sensation Vijay took the social media by storm in the new ad commercial. The Thums Up is trending on Twitter with the new hashtag #RowdyforThunder on Monday. Netizens wondered if the soft drink brand replaced Mahesh Babu with Vijay Deverakonda as its brand ambassador.

Vijay Deverakonda is seen thrashing baddies black and blue in what seems to be an action sequence set up in Hollywood. He then mouths a single one-liner to the boy who comes to serve him a soft drink. “Soft drink Kadu thammudu, Toofan! (It’s not a soft drink brother, it’s Thoofan),” he says in style.
Given his pan-India appeal and youth appeal, fans feel that Vijay might have taken the reins from Mahesh Babu to represent Thums Up brand. Meanwhile, Vijay is vigorously working on his dream project ‘Liger’ produced and directed by Puri Jagannadh. The movie will arrive in theatres on August 25 this year.
