Hyderabad: As part of Mission Jeevan Raksha, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have saved 62 lives in the month of February and a total of 114 lives so far during this year.

The RPF personnel going beyond the call of duty and risking their own lives saved these lives wherein passengers trying to board/de-board a moving train slip and fall with the risk of coming under the wheels of train.


The force also launched the Operation Nanhe Fariste to leverage its strategic positioning and undertook the cause of identifying and rescuing children in need of care and protection who are lost/separated from their family due to various reasons.

As part of this, during the month of February, a total of 1,156 children (787 boys and 369 girls) in need of care and protection who came in contact with Indian Railways were rescued. This year so far, the operation has rescued 2,201 minors i.e., 1,488 boys and 713 girls.

Also, helping pregnant women who got into labor while on journey, under Operation Matrishakthi, the team assisted nine such women deliver their babies safely.

RPF personnel also retrieved 1,746 passenger belongings worth Rs. 2.93 crores under Operation Amanat and the restored belongings were delivered to their rightful owners.

In order to prevent peddling of narcotics through railways, Operation NARCOS was launched and has recovered products worth Rs. 2.28 crores and arrested 67 people during the month of February, a press release said.
