Hyderabad: The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Secunderabad Division, so far this year, has recovered passenger belongings in 976 instances valued at approximately Rs 2.36 crore under ‘Operation Amanath,’ dedicated to retrieving and restoring lost or left-behind belongings of passengers.
Alakunta Naveen Kumar, Divisional Security Commissioner/Secunderabad, in a press release, said the recovery marked a 10.65 per cent increase in the number of recovery incidents and a 4.91 per cent rise in value compared to the corresponding period last year. The recovered items include laptops, mobile phones, purses, luggage bags, and other valuables.
Passengers travelling in a hurry, managing children, or occupied with urgent work often misplace their valuables in railway stations. The RPF swiftly responds to secure and return these items, reinforcing its role as a dependable guardian of passenger security, the release said.
Naveen Kumar urged the passengers to remain vigilant and report any unattended luggage to Railway Helpline No 139.
