Warangal: Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao directed the authorities concerned to make all arrangements for the Sri Mallikharjuna Swamy jatara at Inavolu. “A total of Rs one crore would be sanctioned for the temple for improvement of facilities for the jatara,” he said.
The jatara will be held for three days from January 13, 2022 at the 700-year-old temple built during the Kakatiya rule, and devotees are expected in lakhs for the annual religious congregation.
The Minister held a review meeting with the officials and temple committee members on the arrangements to be made at the temple during the celebrations at Inavolu in Hanamkonda district on Saturday.
Addressing the meeting, Errabelli stressed the need to create facilities with Rs one crore on a permanent basis. “I often visit this Kakatiya-era temple. There is a need to improve the facilities. We need to provide drinking water, toilets, changing rooms for women, queue lines, pandals and other arrangements in a planned manner,” he said.
“The road from Punnelu crossroads on Warangal-Khammam highway to Inavolu temple should be further developed as two-lane road. The welcome arches are good. If the bypass road is completed, traffic problems will not arise. It would be good if barbers had a permanent facility for tonsuring heads of devotees at the temple. A guest house should be built. We should also create facilitates for VIPs and donors. A shopping complex should be built. The construction of toilet complex must be taken up at the temple besides constructing a mini-function hall at the village,” he said adding that the number of devotees visiting the temple was increasing day by day.
Considering the Covid-19 situation, he said that corona testing centres should be set up at the village during the jatara besides administering vaccines to the staff as well as others by setting up the vaccination centres. He also asked the officials to make arrangements to distribute masks and impose fines on those who do not wear masks.
Earlier, Minister Errabelli was accorded a warm reception by the temple priests and felicitated him. MLA A Ramesh, Mayor G Sudharani, Collector Rajiv G Hanumanthu, GWMC Commissioner Pravinya, temple authorities and others attended the meeting.
