Warangal: In a broad daylight robbery, Rs 25 lakh cash was stolen from a stationary car after the miscreants smashed the window panes of the driver seat of the car in Hanamkonda on Monday. The incident happened in front of the HDFC bank at Nakkalagutta, the busiest centre in the city.
The victim, J Tirupathi, a realtor and owner of several trucks, was inside the HDFC bank’s branch along with his son when the incident happened. In his complaint to the police, the realtor stated that he had withdrawn Rs 20 lakh cash from the branch of the HDFC bank and Rs 5 lakh from an SBI bank branch and kept the total cash in his car with the registration number TS 03 EE 6679 parked in front of the car.
“When we returned to the car, we were shocked to notice that the window panes were smashed and the cash bag was missing,” he said, adding that he went inside the bank again to sign some documents after keeping the cash bag in the car.
Responding to his complaint, several police teams including the Central Crime Station (CCS) police under the supervision of Hanamkonda ACP Jitender Reddy have plunged into action and begun the probe from different angles.
The police have identified a person aged around 30 years carrying the ‘cash bag’ after examining the CCTV footage of crime spot and the locality.
However, doubts are expressed over the version of the victim and the way in which the incident happened. Meanwhile, Subedari police have received a complaint from the victim and launched an investigation. The victim, who is a native of Azam Nagar of Bhupalpally district, has been reportedly residing at Prakashreddypeta under the GWMC limits.
