Rs 3.33 crore cash seized during Jubilee Hills bypoll checks
Ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election, enforcement teams seized Rs 3.33 crore cash, 685 litres of liquor, freebies worth Rs 1.37 lakh, and drugs including ganja and MDMA. Flying Squads and surveillance teams are deployed to ensure compliance with the Model Code of Conduct
Hyderabad: The enforcement teams set up for the Jubilee Hills by-election have seized Rs 3.33 crore cash since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into force from October 6.
The District Election Officer, R V Karnan, on Thursday released a cumulative seizure report and said, “The enforcement teams seized Rs 4,63,297 worth of 685.585 litres of liquor during the checks in the Jubilee Hills assembly by-poll. Another Rs 1,37,840 worth of freebies (laptops, vehicles, pressure cookers and sarees) were also seized”.
The Police and Excise department officials seized Rs 1,97,600 worth of 2.264 kg ganja and 0.011 grams of MDMA during the checks, the DEO said. Flying Squad Teams, Static Surveillance Teams, Video Surveillance Teams, and Video Viewing Teams have been deployed to enforce MCC violations in the constituency.
