Hyderabad: Two thieves broke into a temple at Hastinapuram in LB Nagar and decamped with gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 4.5 lakh on Saturday.
According to the police, the thieves are believed to be aware that the temple authorities decorate the deity with jewellery every Friday.
“They gained entry into the premises of the unmanned temple and by breaking open the lock of the sanctum sanctorum door, decamped with valuables,” said an official, adding that the suspects also disconnected the surveillance cameras installed on the temple premises. Temple authorities noticed the valuables missing in the morning and alerted the LB Nagar police who are investigating.
