Karimnagar: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that a Rs 6 lakh insurance facility would be provided to fishermen on par with Rythu Bima. Mobile fish outlets would also be sanctioned to all mandals in the coming days.
Speaking at a Mudiraj community meeting held in Veenavanka on Wednesday, Harish Rao said that previous governments never sanctioned a single rupee for the welfare of the community.
However, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was giving top priority to the fishermen community and sanctioned Rs 1,000 crore for the welfare of the community. Besides motorcycles to market the fish, auto trolleys were also given by spending Rs 150 crore.
Mobile fish outlets were also sanctioned to Hyderabad as well as district headquarters by spending Rs 65 crore. A Fish Bhavan was also sanctioned with Rs 75 crore. Harish Rao assured to sanction fish seed amount to fishermen societies by bringing the issue to the notice of Chief Minister. Releasing fish seed in all tanks and ponds across the State would start from Thursday onwards.
The Chief Minister has taken the decision to provide power to all tanks and ponds, he informed and assured to implement GO 609. People who crossed the age of 57 years would be provided pensions very soon. Talking about poll promises being made by BJP leaders, he said on what grounds the BJP party would seek votes from the people in Huzurabad.
While Chandrashekhar Rao has provided mopeds to fishermen, the Union government has hiked the price of petrol adding an additional burden on the community. BJP should supply petrol to vehicles if the party was committed to the welfare of the community.
Moreover, the Union government refused to procure common variety paddy, he said and asked the BJP leader to convince the Centre to purchase common variety paddy before seeking votes.
Minister wanted the BJP leaders to sanction a Rs 500 crore package to the fishermen community and reduce the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. Harish Rao asked the people to vote for TRS party Huzurabad candidate Galle Srinivas Yadav, who played an active role in Telangana agitation. About 130 cases were registered against Srinivas Yadav during the period of the Telangana movement.
Informing that a hospital to work round the clock was already sanctioned, he assured to establish a modern fish market in Veenavanka.
